Posted Mar 13, 2020 9:31 PM

In an effort to help reduce the potential spread of thecovid-19 virus in accordance with best recommended practices, the 4-H / Senior Citizens Building Committee has cancelled their annual fundraiser that had been scheduled on March 28th. It will not be rescheduled.

According to Extension Agent Chuck Otte, individuals who had bought tickets who would like refunds should contact the Extension Office at 785-238-4161.

If you purchased tickets and would like to just have them considered a donation, no action is needed. Items that had been collected for the live and silent auction will be placed into a virtual silent auction in the near future. A list of items and photos will be placed online and people may email or all in bids for several weeks after it is posted.

The committee had set a fundraising goal of $11,000 to purchase new stoves for the kitchen at the 4-H / Senior Citizens Building. The stoves are needed for the daily preparation of the senior citizens meals as well as Meals on Wheels for seniors. Individuals wanting to make donations to support the purchase of these new ovens can make their donations payable to the 4-H/Senior Citizens Building Committee and mail them in care of the Geary County Extension Office, P.O. Box 28, Junction City, KS 66441 or deliver them in person to the Extension office at 119 East 9th Street in Junction City.

Questions concerning this information can be directed to Chuck Ottee, Geary County Extension Agent, at the Extension Office.
