Junction City Manager Allen Dinkel said Friday the City has looked at everything but hasn't shut anything down yet. "We're going to keep 12th Street ( Community ) Center open because next week it may be busy but it's going to be a day by day decision.
Many are waiting and monitoring the situation with COVID-19. Dinkel added the City hasn't been directed by the County Health Department or any good information out there to not have that. "We'll have it available. We talked about the playground parks and everything else because kids will be there but I think a lot of people feel this is outdoors and less contact. It's not a real problem."
Dinkel said the City will monitor the situation daily.
The city manager noted that the City did make it possible for people wanting to pay their water bills or city utility bills they can do so online or by telephone call, and the city will waive any additional fees. Dinkel also noted that is doubtful any City offices will be closed. "We have the police and the fire and the EMS, and public works have to be available so we're going to do the best we can."
Dinkel has issued a directive to city employees telling them if they are sick or have a temperature to stay home. While the situation is monitored on a day by day basis there are no plans right now to close the city office. "Because we are here for the public, and that's what we are charged to do and we will do it."
