St. Xavier is working on a plan following school closing order

Governor Laura Kelly announced that all Kansas schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our communities.

With Governor Kelly’s decision, St. Xavier is working to develop more concrete educational plans with the help of KSDE and the Diocese of Salina for the coming weeks. KSDE has convened a Continuous Learning Committee to develop a comprehensive plan to assist districts in delivering education to students while school buildings remain closed. This Committee is planning to give us information by the end of the day Wednesday. There are many questions that we simply do not yet have answers for at this time.

School Principal Shawn Augustine said "With the state’s guidance, and with the dedication, innovation, and creativity of our staff and families here at St. Francis Xavier, I am confident that the next few days will bring clarity around many of these questions. Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this unprecedented time. It is our mission to educate for eternity, and that is what we plan to continue doing at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. "
