Social distancing is the only way the spread of COVID-19 can be prevented. The only thing we can do is try to keep people home if they don't work or they don't need to be out in the community. If they do need to be out in the community the recommendation is to stay six feet from each other, said Geary County Health Director Tammy Von Busch.
Von Bush noted that Coronavirus-19 is an aerosol droplet spread type virus. "People coughing, that can hang in the air for up to three hours so somebody coughs and you walk by or walk through that air you run the risk of coming in contact with that." Von Bush said the virus can also stay on various surfaces for up to three days.
Von Busch said officials have been working with local businesses on the importance of social distancing and the aggressive cleaning of contact surfaces. "So when we're talking to any other facility, big business here in town we're recommending a cleaning solution of one-third cup of bleach per gallon of water and they need to be sure that they're wiping down tables, door knobs, anything that is a high contact area in their facility. She added try to have something available to wipe down keyboards and those types of items.
