Milton Dean Berg, 79, of rural Blaine, Kansas, died Thursday, March 19, 2020, at the Frankfort Community Care Home. He was a life-long resident of the community.
Milton was born on June 3, 1940, in Frankfort, the son of Gustav and Rosalinde Stelter Berg. He attended local schools and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1958.
Milton was a farmer and Stockman and was the fourth generation owner and operator of the family farm north of Blaine. Also Milton, was a heavy equipment operator for Pottawatomie County. Milton was a Clear Creek Township Trustee and had also served as an officer for St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wheaton and then New Hope Lutheran Church in Onaga. In earlier years, he was on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Dog Breeders Association.
Milton married Joyce Biesenthal on May 7, 1967, in Wheaton, Kansas. She survives at their home.
Joyce and Milton enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren, attending sporting events and other family activities. Milton was loved by all and voted 2020 Valentine’s King of the Frankfort Community Care Home.
Milton is also survived by his children; Millie and David Erichsen, Oviedo, Florida, Troy Berg and Stacy Mahan , of Blaine, April and Brian McCullough, Salina, and Peggy and Dennis Brown, Apopka, Florida; his grandchildren, Debbie and Samantha Berg, Michael Mahan, Courtney and Claire McCullough and Silas Brown; his sister, Betty Koch, Blaine; and sisters-in-law, Karen and Gordon True, Mason City, Iowa, Leslie and Gary Blume, Wheaton, and Marla and Adrian Cordel, Beloit. Milton was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter- in- law, Brenda Berg.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a private service will be held with burial at Berg Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is planned and will be held in the summer. The date for that service will be announced. The family suggests memorial contributions to New Hope Lutheran Church and Frankfort Community Care Home, and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Kufahl Funeral Home.
