First case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Geary County

Health Department officials have announced the first case of coronavirus disease ( COVID-19 ) in Geary County.

The case involves a 40-year old woman who resides in Junction City.  Emergency Management Director Garry Berges said, She tested positive for the virus and has already been in self-quarantine for at least 14 days. The female patient is currently under medical care and is quarantined at her residence." 

Berges said the Geary County Health Department is investigating the case to determine any potential contact with outside people. "The Geary County Health Department has been encouraging everyone to stay home and especially more than ever now with the confirmed case." 

If you need to go out practice self-distancing including annd other measures recommended by the CDC guidelines including a form or type of face protection.

Berges confirmed there are family members of the 40-year woman. All of them are under quarantine.
