USD 475 implemented the online e-learning process this week. Associate Superintendent Lacee Sell noted that there was excitement on Monday with students being able to see their teachers. On Tuesday there were a few more hiccups and sentiments about the new normal.
Sell issued a clear message. "As long as you try your absolute best, whether you're a parent, a teacher, a student that it's going to be okay. HANG IN THERE."
Sell noted district officials are there to support those in USD 475. If you have questions, concerns, need help, or just have conversation with someone make sure you are reaching out to your child's teacher. They're your first defense in any type of situation. "You're not bothering them. They miss you, the children, as much as they miss the contact from the parents. And they're waiting to hear from you and are more than willing to help."
Superintendent Dr. Reginald Eggleston encouraged reaching out to a student's teacher and administrator. "Those relationships are so significant and important and it will just calm a lot of the concerns that individuals may have if we have that human, that face to face or that communication over the phone. So please again, take advantage of that."
With regard to the technology involved with the e-learning and online system there is a telephone number to call, 785-717-HELP. If the telephone lines are busy or it's after hours the email address is [email protected]
