Helen M. Kappel, 84, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020, in Chapman. 

She was born September 9, 1935 in Abilene, the daughter of Earl and Mary (Foltz) Kogler. Growing up in Abilene Helen attended local schools. September 27, 1957 she married Norman Kappel in Abilene. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. He preceded her in death July 17, 2010. 

Helen was a self employed daycare provider for twenty eight years and a member of the Abilene First United Methodist Church.

 She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Kappel; brother Bruce Kogler and infant sister, Marilyn Kogler.

Helen is survived by son George (Judy) Kappel of Abilene; two daughters, Lorrie (Ric) Riggs of Abilene; Julie Kappel of Topeka; brother, Earl Kogler Jr. of Altamone Springs, Florida; two step-sister, Jody (Bob) Reichel of Hansen, Idaho, Kay (Rickard) Waugh of King George, Virginia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 at the Abilene Cemetery with Pastor John Collins officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the Elsie Brooks Cancer Fund. They may be sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home 501 N. Buckeye Abilene, Kansas 67410.&nbsp;&nbsp;
