The COVID-19 pandemic is a different type of disaster than, for example, a tornado or flood. Pat Collins, Riley County Emergency Management Director, said the triggers are different with a pandemic. "A lot of people are looking at this like they do with a lot of these other disasters. "
Collins noted that the build up to this point has taken several months. " I don't think we're quite at the peak yet. I think as we go on the recovery will be quite extended." The emergency manager added that's the difference between the pandemic and some of the other disasters that have been experienced.
There are currently 25 diagnosed cases of COVID-19 in Riley County.
