COVID-19 is impacting 4-H events

Posted Apr 17, 2020 10:23 PM

All in-person Extension-sponsored events including all 4-H programming by employees and volunteers between and July 4 must be moved to virtual environments or canceled. That information is contained in the Geary County 4-H newsletter.

Events that are canceled for this year include Shooting Sports State Spring Match, Ag Day, May 4th Project Meeting Evening, Discovery Days, June 2nd Fairgrounds Panel Painting, Hazardous Occupations Safety Training in Agriculture, 4-H Camp, KSU Horse and Livestock Judging Camps, K-State Animal Sciences Leadership Academy and District Horse Show.

Extension officials have been informed that more direction on the county fair and whether there will be 4-H participation will be available in mid-May.

Even if it is not possible to have fair in the traditional sense officials are planning to do everything possible to ensure youth have the opportunity to display their work. Whether it's posters, videos or virtual judging they plan to try to save the 4-H exhibit experience for 4-H members this summer.
