Mary Yvonne Rice

Mary Yvonne Rice 83, of White City passed away May 1, 2020 at Morris County Hospital, Council Grove.  She was born December 12, 1936 in St. Charles, Missouri to Joe and Lavaun Gieber. She grew up in Ogden, KS and attended Lucky High School in Manhattan, KS.  She worked at the PX on Fort Riley where she met and later married William “Bill” Rice.  They were married January 15, 1955 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ogden, KS.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.  They loved to travel and share trips with their grandchildren.  She loved the lake, bowling, attending school activities, a good card game and family get togethers.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years Bill, daughter Jamie Schmidt and husband Tracy, sons Billy and wife Annette, Rusty and wife Ilona, all of White City. Grandchildren- Joey Rice and wife Dayna, Sydney and Camryn; Christin Parrish and husband Seth, Bode and Chandler, Autumn Wolff and husband Nick, Austin and Alyssa, Ryan Rice and wife Megan, Katelynn and Braden, Kellie Obermueller and husband Rob, Riley and Kaylee, Natalie McCullough and husband Clayton, Reese, Sloan and Harper, Justin Schmidt and wife Chelsey, Kayden, Marlee, Jace and Blair,  Samantha Rice and Landon, and Amber Colvin and husband Matt, Regan Mary and Elliott. 

A memorial service is planned for June 2, 2020 at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, Fort Riley.  The White City Senior Center has been chosen as a memorial.
