
RILEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects in connection with a stolen vehicle and high speed chase.
Just after 1p.m. Wednesday, the Riley County Police Department Dispatch Center was notified of a theft from Walmart in the 100 block of Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan, according to a media release.
It was determined the suspect in the theft was driving a stolen vehicle. At approximately 1:45 p.m., a pursuit began involving the stolen vehicle in the 1100 block of Pillsbury Drive.
The vehicle began traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 at high speeds.
Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers became involved in the pursuit near the Geary/Riley county line.
The pursuit ended after using tire deflation devices and a tactical vehicle intervention on the fleeing vehicle.
KHP reports two people are now in custody including 25-year-old Kayla Auchard who is being held on a bond of $10,000 for Possession of stolen property; Value $1,500 to $25,000 Flee or attempt to elude; Commission of any felony, according to the Riley County arrest report.
