Lauren Oral Weeks, age 78, passed away unexpectedly, May 5, 2020, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Lauren was an organ donor and passed on new life to an individual in need of a liver transplant.
Lauren was born October 31, 1941 in Council Grove, to Oral and Catherine (Henricks) Weeks. He grew up on a farm near Dwight, Kansas, graduating from Dwight High School.
Lauren served his country in the Army and spent time in Vietnam. He was an Auto Repairman, received a Marksman (Rifle M-14) badge and a Vietnam Service Medal.
He had served as the Commander of the American Legion Post 121. He worked as a mechanic, including many years for Trimmell Ford. After the closing of Trimmell Ford, Lauren worked for Wilson Sales until retiring in 2010.
Lauren leaves behind two children, Matt Weeks (Amber) and Laura Allen (fiancé Corey Viar); five grandchildren: Kelsey Bremer, Brianna Allen, Dedric Frese, Abigail Allen and Cole Weeks. He also leaves his longtime girlfriend, Pat Paul and her children: Lisa, James (fiancé Alicia Brewington, Matt and John; three sisters, Ilene Bolinder (the late John, Anna Mae Williams (the late Jim, Mary Hayes (Bill); one brother, Raymond Weeks (Sherryl); in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
Lauren was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Lonnie and Leonard and a stillborn sister, Helen.
He enjoyed hunting, horseshoes, playing pitch with his friends and helping people. Lauren was very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by many.
Due to the Covid-19 virus, a graveside service will be postponed until a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Lauren Weeks Memorial Fund, which will be used for a flag at the cemetery. They may be sent in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
