Edward Anthony Cain, Jr., 63, of Manhattan, KS passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020, at his residence.
Edward was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 29, 1957, to his loving parents, Helen L. (Irlan) and Edward A. Cain, Sr.
Enlisting after graduation from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1975, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves for 25 years before retiring in 2000. Last stationed in Manhattan, Edward decided to make the “Little Apple” his forever home.
He received an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Troy State University and went on to complete his bachelor’s degree at Kansas State University.
Edward loved spending time with his family and adored his children. He was a hard worker, taking on various positions throughout the region post-retirement, and an avid runner in his free time. He attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Edward is survived by his wife Alexandera (Smith) Cain of Manhattan, KS; Daughters: Danitra Cain of Houston, TX, and Desiree Cain of Manhattan, KS; Son: Edward (Eddie) Cain, III of Manhattan, KS; Granddaughter: Kristyn Cain of Houston, TX; Siblings: Robert Irlan of Philadelphia, PA, Rosalind Nelson of Philadelphia, PA, June Smith of Philadelphia, PA; Debbie Webster of Phoenix; AZ, Eunice Brooks of Philadelphia, PA, and Perry Cain of Philadelphia, PA. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives, and friends whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, his sister, Lois Cain, and brother, Donald Cain.
A memorial will be held at a later time in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be directed to Sunflower CASA Project, Inc., Manhattan, KS.
