GOP waiting to see if Hamilton 's bid for U.S. Senate surges

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — The founder of a Kansas City-area plumbing company who's running for an open U.S. Senate seat in Kansas acknowledges that he doesn’t know how he’d go about getting a seat on the Senate Agriculture Committee.

Bob Hamilton says he’s an outsider who will have to be shown “how to do that.” The comment came in response to a question to him and four other Republicans during a debate Saturday in Manhattan. Republicans are watching to see whether Hamilton's candidacy takes off in what had seemed increasingly like a two-person primary race between Congressman Roger Marshall and former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.
