
Registration is open for the new JC Strong Benefit Run on July 4th. There will be 5K, 10K and 1-mile fun / walk in Heritage Park honoring community warriors.
After Junction City native Lisa Nabus was diagnosed with breast cancer at the start of the pandemic, the #NabusStrong committee went to work coordinating a benefit run to support her fight. When the traditional Freedom Run was cancelled on the Fourth they scheduled the JC Strong Benefit Run that day.
Terrah Stroda, said when they approached Nabus about it she asked that the benefit run become about community togetherness and inspiring others so t he JC Strong Benefit Run was born to celebrate Junction City and the strength of its people.
Local agencies and organizations ranging from the City, to the Sheriff's Department supported the race. Manhattan Running Company is assisting with race day details and coordination.
For those concerned about COVID-19, the Benefit Run has several action plans including consideration of actions by the Governor an in coordination with the Health Department in response to the pandemic.
