Junction City police are alerting the public about a scam, which they said has been experienced in this area before. Callers are targeting elderly citizens claiming to be a grandchild who has been arrested or in an accident. The caller is "crying" to disguise their voice. They ask the person to wire money to help because the "Grandchild" is too scared to call their parents.
Police said talk to your parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors about this topic. It is extremely hard to track these transactions that are believed to be sent overseas.
