Sharon Lee Holley, 63, of Wamego, Kansas, died Friday, June 12, 2020 at her home following a fight with Lung Cancer. She was a long-time resident of the community.
Sharon was born on April 10, 1957, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Gerald L. and Mary Saville Holley. She attended local schools and graduated from Wamego High School. She then received an Associate’s Degree to be a Dental Hygienist.
Sharon worked for a time as a hygienist and then worked in several different occupations including working at Manco in Manhattan. But the job she loved the best was the years she was the janitorial supervisor for the football stadium at Kansas State University.
Sharon loved to be outdoors whether it was working in her garden and yard or riding her Harley motorcycle. She was an artist and often did sketches and wood carvings. She especially enjoyed carving eagles. Sharon loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to the east coast and time spent in Hawaii. Sharon was very close to her dogs.
Sharon married Kenny Jones on July 28, 1980 in Wamego. He preceded her in death. She then had a long-term relationship with David Larson, but never remarried.
Sharon is survived by her children; Jacob Jones (Deanne, New South Wales, Australia, Desiree Jones, Belvidere, Tennessee, and Davida Holley, Topeka; her grandchildren, Mariah, Aviendha and Inara; her sister, Christine Parkhust, Wamego; her aunt, Sheryl Saville, Wamego and uncle, Phill Larmore, Manhattan. Sharon was also preceded in death by her parents, and infant daughter, Carissa.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 3:30 pm, Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Wamego City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 pm until 3:15 pm, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary. Everyone is welcome to travel to the cemetery in procession at 3:15. Memorial contributions are suggested to Campanella-Evans Mortuary to help with funeral expenses.
