Fresh Start is starting off 2026 with a new Night Shelter Program that will house the homeless overnight. Individuals and families can make a reservation for the Night Shelter Program by calling the Shelter at 785-390-0102 between the hours of 8:00AM and 5:00PM. Access will be granted based upon a client’s homeless status as per HUD’s definition of homelessness, passing background checks, and bed availability. The Night Shelter Program runs seven nights, with clients able to make additional reservations each week, but is first-come, first-served. Those seeking shelter are required to call before 5:00pm to check on availability for that night’s shelter. Once a reservation is made, clients must come in for intake between 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Dinner will be available.
Clients are required to check out the following morning by 8:00am and can return between 6:00pm-7:00pm. A waitlist will be available, and any Client that does not return by 7:00pm will forfeit their room which will be available for the next person on the wait list.
