The possibility of increasing the transient guest tax will come up for discussion at the Geary County Commision meeting Monday evening. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the County Office Building.
The current TGT rate in Geary County is six percent, which is lower than in Manhattan and Abilene. The majority of the funds are used to support Convention & Visitors Bureau operations, and one percent is allotted for a sport complex project if one ever occurs.
The transient guest tax is paid by users of lodging facilities.
The county commission will begin holding night meetings once per month, beginning with the session Monday night.
