Kansas State fall football practices are under way but what may be in the future is uncertain due to COVID-19. Talking with the media Tuesday Coach Chris Klieman noted that the team had been through four practices and one extended walk through. But there are unknowns for college football right now.

Klieman noted that all the uncertainty had been hard on the players. "The mental strain that they have on them, the anxiety of not having a lot of answers. It's one of the few times as a football coach you don't have a lot of answers to give them."

The coach has been pleased with the practices that have been held so far.  "When you go out and watch practice it's fun because they're just running around, flying around, communicating, making plays, they're having a blast out there with their families, their guys that they spend this time with. But then at the end of the day they do what a lot of us do, see the reports of some uncertainty of whether or not we're playing and that weighs on them. I know it does."

Kleiman added they try to take that away from them by going about their normal business and noted that their is a short window between the beginning of fall camp and the start of school. "We've done a good a job with the time we have, with the information and knowledge that we have to make it as much about football right now until we get to Sunday and then we start school."

Kleiman isn't sure when K-State will hear about their upcoming season. But he emphasized the environment where the Wildcats work out is extremely safe. "We follow every protocol. It's pretty cool to watch our older guys make our younger guys making sure that we have masks on, making sure that guys are keeping social distance. It's been a new normal that is different. I'm pleased with how the guys have handled it thus far."

On Tuesday the Big Ten and Pac 12 conferences canceled their fall seasons, with the possibility of exploring a spring season.
