JUNCTION CITY, Kan.- According to a release from the Junction City Fire Department, JCFD responded to 36 Fire calls, 68 EMS calls, and 11 out of town ambulance transfers during the week of August 5th-12th.
On August 12th at 1:03p.m., JCFD responded to a Structure Fire At 238 East 14th. Upon arrival, units found fire and smoke showing at the address. E1, M1 arrived and started fire attack. Operations Chief advised the apartment was vacant. E2 arrived on scene and assumed command. E2 crew assisted with venting and fire control. T2 arrived and was set up on the corner of East 14th and Madison. Fire was knocked down and allowed to cool off.
Overhaul started and was held up until investigators could take pictures. Kansas Gas, Evergy and Red Cross were called to the scene. Entry was made to the back apartments and light smoke was found. The apartment next to the fire had extensive smoke damage but no flame damage. Several cats were removed from the apartment and given to the owners. Overhaul was completed. All units in service.
This fire is still under investigation and there were no reported injuries. Property Damage Estimate with contents $15,000.
On August 12th at 10:01p.m., JCFD responded to a Structure Fire At 935 Windward Dr. for an exterior deck on fire. E2/T2/M2 on scene to find 3 story apartment building with smoke and fire on the 3rd floor deck of apartment 6. Dispatch stated en route building is evacuated. Two 1.75" handlines pulled and fire knocked down from the ground while E2 crew made entry. Door had to be forced, fire contained to the deck area.
E1/M1 on scene Primary completed search. Overhaul, and fire out. All apartments were checked again. Investigation was started by Investigator Mortimer. Residents let back into their apartments. Apartment 5 turned over to maintenance. Command terminated, All units return to stations.
This fire is still under investigation and there were no reported injuries. Property Damage Estimate with contents $10,000.
