Bobby E. Cooper

Bobby E. Cooper, age 84, of Alta Vista, Kansas, died Saturday June 19, 2021 at the Kansas University Health System in Kansas City.

He was born on February 28, 1937 in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Hugh and Pearl (Larsen) Cooper. As a youth his family moved to Lincoln, Kansas. He grew up in the Lincoln area and graduated with the class of 1955 of Lincoln High School.
Bobby served in the United States Navy for 3 years, then after his service time he was a member of the National Guard. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Eagles Lodge and the 40/8 Club.

On August 27, 1961 in Rural Lincoln County, Kansas he was united in marriage to Carol Wacker. She survives at their home in Alta Vista.

Bobby enjoyed being outdoors and fishing as often as he could. He always loved to be out in his shop tinkering and fixing anything people would bring to him. If something couldn’t be fixed, he would tell you. He loved going uptown in Alta Vista and having coffee and sharing stories with the group every morning.

He was preceded in death by his sisters: Velma Bennett, Pauline Quartaro, Mary Lou Sutton, and also 3 sisters in infancy.

In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by his children, Sheila Brown (Roger), Barry Cooper, and Karl Cooper, all of Alta Vista. His sister, Ila Smith (Bob) of Lincoln, Kansas; and also, his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends during a Celebration Gathering on Saturday June 26, 2021 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. In memory of Bobby the family ask that you come in casual attire. Private burial will be at a later date in Lincoln.
