Larry George with Geary County Fish & Game Association has announced that they will collect natural Christmas trees in an empty lot at 14th & Jackson in Junction City. When you take down your tree remove all the ornaments, lights and stands and deposit the tree in the pile at that location.
On Saturday, Jan. 29, at 8:30 a.m. the trees will be hauled to a recycling point. Help with that project is welcome.
In past years the Association has collected and hauled natural Christmas trees after the holiday for use as wildlife or fish habitat, or grinding into mulch. That keeps the trees out of the landfills and benefits the environment.
