WASHINGTON COUNTY—A Manhattan woman died in an accident just before 4p.m. Wednesday in Washington County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Anne S. Nielsen, 71, Manhattan, was southbound on Kansas 148 three miles south of Hanover.
The driver failed to stop at a stop sign at U.S. 36. A westbound 2005 Ford F350 driven by Jeffry S. Clark, 60, Thermopolis, Wyoming, struck the Volkswagen. Both vehicles came to rest in the center median.
Nielsen was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Marysville Funeral Home. EMS transported Clark to the Hanover Hospital. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
