Donald (Chip) Gennett Il

Donald (Chip) Gennett Il of Clay Center, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away early afternoon, January 11, 2021, at the age of 74.

Chip was born in Independence, Kansas, on October 3 1946, to loving parents Donald and Jane (Nolene Rock) Gennett, the second of three children. He graduated from Clifton High School in Clifton, Kansas in 1964. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired from the United States Army in the rank of Sergeant First Class. He married Sharon Kay Reed and had two children: Brenda Dee, and Christopher Reed, Sherry and Chip later divorced.

Chip loved books, he was the world's biggest fan of Louis L 'Amour and Tom Clancy. He also enjoyed reading about history, particularly World War Il. He enjoyed playing golf, baseball and bowling. Chip was a member of the American Legion, The Eagles, and the V.F.W. He had a passion for horses and enjoyed watching college and professional football.

Chip was many things: kind, compassionate and funny. His love for his children and grandchildren and family was unparalleled. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Chip was preceded in death by his father Donald Gennett. He is survived by his mother Jane

Gennett of Clay Center, KS two children, Brenda (Tom) Pendleton of Manhatan, KS, and Christopher Gennett of Wichita, KS; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, his two sisters Judy Branfort of Clifton, KS and Candy (Eldon) Boling of Clay Center, KS and nieces and nephews.

Respect calls will be held on Friday, January 15 from 3-7 p.m. at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.

Graveside services will be at a later date in the Morganville Cemetery, Morganville, KS
