Regional cooperation in the area of economic development and growth received the attention of the EDC board in Junction City on Thursday. EDC Director Mickey Fornaro-Dean recently met with Manhattan Chamber leader Jason Smith to talk about doing a better job of working together regionally.
She noted that building trust by finding a common ground and recognizing that each of the counties, Geary, Riley and Pottawatomie all have their individual strengths were topics. Playing off of those strengths were would help grow the region and make it stronger.
"I just think it's important that we have a better relationship and a better line of communication between our region. Not that we don't but I just want to continue to work to help strengthen that," said Fornaro-Dean. " She added that she wants to ensure that growth in the corridor is supported in their communications.
Fornaro-Dean expects more meetings or discussions on what can be done or what areas can be worked on to benefit all of the region.
It was also noted EDC discussion that this area is moving closer to one economic unit or trade area.
