This weekend, the Geary County Historical Society will host the first of a new monthly program series called STEAM Saturday.
Historical Society Executive Director Heather Hagedorn said STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Match. It will be used to help create hands-on learning experiences to make history engaging. New topics will be explored the third Saturday of each month.
This Saturday, Feb. 19th, STEAM Saturday will celebrate African American inventors and visitors will get an opportunity to engineer some of their own inventions. The event will run from 1-4 p.m. A suggested donation of $10 per family helps make programs like STEAM Saturdays possible.
The Geary County Historical Society is located at 530 North Adams in Junction City.
