The Geary County Sheriff's Department has implemented emergency accident reporting.
There have been multiple slide off vehicle accidents. As of about 8:50 a.m. seven accidents had been reported in the county. One vehicle was on it's side near the 303 mile marker.
The Sheriff's Office will not respond to non-injury accidents when the vehicles are operable. Drivers should move to a place of safety, exchange personal and insurance information. Report the accident to their insurance company as soon as possible. File a report when there is property damage over $1,000 with the appropriate law enforcement agency within 48 hours.
All injury accidents and accidents blocking the street due to disabled vehicles should be reported to law enforcement. Law enforcement and needed emergency personnel will respond.
As soon as the caseload permits, the Sheriff's Office will return to normal accident reporting.
