One hospitalized after SUV strikes guardrail on I-70

DICKINSON COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before noon Friday in Dickinson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Chevy Equinox driven by  Kelsey Dawn Fountain, 29, Hill City, was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of Solomon in the right lane.

The Chevy moved to the left lane in front of a 2020 Subaru Forester driven by Bethany Nicole Pettit, 26, Holgate, Ohio.

The Subaru entered the median. The driver overcorrected to the right and then overcorrected to the left. The Subaru entered the median again and struck the guard rail.

A private vehicle transported a passenger in the Subaru  Breeanne Barrentine, 21, Tallahassee, Florida to Abilene Memorial Hospital. Fountain, Pettit and a passenger in the Chevy were not injured. All four were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
