Greens aerification for Rolling Meadows Golf Course is being moved from Monday and Tuesday of this week to April 11-12 due to the weather forecast. According to the City Manager's 515 report the putting green took a beating over the winter because of foot traffic and the drought that is being experienced. It will be slower than other greens waking up this year. This fall officials plan to look at some new grass for the putting green with a bentgrass variety that suits the amount of traffic it receives.
Thirty red maple trees have been planted throughout the course to replace trees that have been cut down in recent years. These trees range from 10 to 15 feet tall. The Friends of Rolling Meadows agreed to purchase half of those trees. This fall, another 30-40 trees of different varieties will be planed. Going forward the goal is to plant a tree after one is removed.
