National Library Week, April 19 to 25, 2026, is a time to celebrate the essential role libraries and library staff play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. This year’s theme, “Find Your Joy,” invites local community members to explore what inspires them and discover it at their library.
National Library Week includes several celebration days that highlight different aspects of library service and impact:
· Monday, April 20: Right to Read Day, encouraging readers to protect and celebrate access to information
· Tuesday, April 21: National Library Workers Day, recognizing the valuable contributions of library staff
· Wednesday, April 22: National Library Outreach Day, celebrating services that bring the library out into the community
· Thursday, April 23: Take Action for Libraries Day, inspiring support and advocacy for libraries
There are 19 Dorothy Bramlage Public Library staff members working across the facilities, who provide essential services such as circulation and reference assistance, community programming for all ages, technology support, outreach efforts, and access to vital resources that support education, employment, and lifelong learning.
To show appreciation for the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library staff and the work they do throughout the year, members of the community are invited to stop by the library and provide a testimonial. Patrons are welcome to share stories on how library staff have an impact on their lives or community. Testimonials can be dropped off in the form of a letter or card to the Library Director or emailed to her at donnap@jclib.org.
Donna Porter, Library Director said, “Our staff truly are the heart of the library. Each day, they show up with dedication, compassion, and a genuine commitment to serving our community.
