Geary County Historical Society staff and members are working to raise funds for a local match share of a new museum roof project. Grant funding will pay 80% of the cost but about $10,000 needs to be raised for the local share.

Raise the Roof Fitness Fair was a local fundraiser on what  turned out to be a chilly Saturday, that drew a relatively light turnout on the Historical Museum grounds. Heather Hagedorn, Historical Society Director, said there was a group that did yoga. "Then we did some mixed fit hip hop dancing and gymnastics for some kids. "Martial arts boxing was another activity.

Funds raised Saturday came from entry fees paid by those who attended and from raffles.

There were a lot of businesses and organizations that provided service on Saturday. The current roof on the museum is 35 years old and needs to be replaced.
