Grandview Plaza firefighters were notified of a fire at a trailer residence in the 100 block of East Anchor Monday afternoon. The resident was not injured.
Fire Chief Jeremy Bramwell noted that upon arrival there was light to heavy smoke coming from the trailer. It took approximately 25-30 minutes to put out the fire which occurred primarily in the kitchen and dining room area. The trailer is uninhabitable.
The damage estimate was placed at approximately $50,000. The cause of the blaze is suspected to be an accidental cooking fire.
In addition to Grandview Plaza, volunteers from the Gary County Rural Fire Depatment assisted in putting out the blaze.
