Connie Christine (Mendoza) Peitz, 77, went Home to Heaven on Friday March 12, 2021, in Manhattan, Kansas.

Connie was born at the Mexican Village in Dodge City, Kansas on March 4, 1944, the youngest daughter to her parents, Joe and Lucy Mendoza. She attended Miller Elementary School, Dodge City Junior High School, and graduated from Dodge City High School. She took many classes thereafter mostly in relation to social work, with a focus on children and survivors of domestic violence, a subject dear to her heart. She worked many years for CASA, the Crisis Center, and Bright Beginnings, all of which allowed her to fulfill her heart’s desire to help women and children. Summer of 2020, she retired and moved to Manhattan, Kansas, with her family, after being a life-long resident of Dodge City.

Connie was a beautiful person, inside and out, and besides her Faith, nothing mattered more to her than her four daughters, her son-in-laws, her thirteen grandchildren, and of course, her dogs, Rosco & JoJo, which she spoiled just like her children. She was a faithful member of Harvest Baptist Church, and sat in her pew in between her daughters every Wednesday and Sunday. She was the center of our family and was an important part of our daily lives. She loved nothing more than simply being with her family, doting over them, cuddling over a movie, and shopping for them as a favorite pastime.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Peitz, in 1990, and her parents, Joe and Lucy Mendoza in 2001.

Survivors include her daughters, Melanie Guillen, Mandy Peitz, Michelle Lopez and Nicole Long, and their families as follows. Melanie’s husband, Jesse and children, Desmond, Londyn, Easton and Eden; Michelle’s husband, Terry and children, Taylor, Paige and Kaitlyn; and Nicole’s husband, John and children, Marissa, Kyrsten, Elisha, Ava, Anna and Faith; also survived by her two big sisters, Susan Martinez and Lilly Mendoza, many nieces, a nephew, a large extended family, “Eastside Family”, and her precious Church Family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021, at Harvest Baptist Church,2615 Farm Bureau Road, Manhattan, Kansas, with a short viewing the hour before, and a meal to follow also at the Church.

A second service will take place Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Primera Iglesia Bautista Ebenezar (First Baptist Building), 1310 North Second Avenue in Dodge City, with the burial immediately following at Maple Grove Cemetery, and then a meal will take place at the Dodge House Banquet Hall, 2408 West Wyatt Earp Blvd., Dodge City. Connie’s Pastor, Pastor Stephen Henderson will be presiding over all services. We ask that those attending bring some memories with you. The family would be ever so grateful.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Connie Peitz Memorial Fund in care of Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
