The Martin Luther King Jr. ceremony in Junction City on Monday will focus on youth involvement. A goal is to keep the dream of Martin Luther King Jr. before the youth.
Event Coordinator Daphne Maxwell pointed to a need to resurrect a loss of history for young people. "Some don't know who Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is, let alone what he stood for, the impact of his life and legacy, and freedoms they enjoy today."
With the youth-centered focus, the event will feature performances and presentations by local youth and serve as a day of learning, reflection, and historical enrichment. Students from the JAG program at Junction City High School will be among the participants.
The ceremony Monday begins at 10 a.m. at the C.L. Hoover Opera House.
