Geary County obtained a $100,000 Heritage Trust Fund grant a year ago to help with tuck and point courthouse improvements, but was unsuccessful in obtaining a grant for Phase Two improvements. County Commission Chairman Keith Ascher explained due to the increasing costs of that work, plus refurbishing of windows and caulking the county will pay the approximate $320,000 with capital improvement project funds.

On a seperate subject the county is working to prepare for a delinquent property tax sale that is expected to be held this upcoming summer. The list currently includes four properties filed for the sale.
