Saturday morning stabbing leaves one dead in Junction City

JUNCTION CITY - Shortly before 2:30 am on Saturday August 6th, officers with the Junction City Police Department responded to the 2600 block of Deerfield Blvd. for the report of a possible stabbing.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male with a stab wound, he was transported to the Geary Community Hospital in serious but stable condition. He was later transported to Stormont Vail Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Upon further investigation, officers found a second victim, 30-year old Stacy Subotich, of Fort Riley, had been transported to Irwin Army Hospital with life-threatening stab wounds. Subotich later died from her injuries.

Officers learned a third individual had driven themselves to Geary Community Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening stab wound.

The third individual was identified as 21-year old Jalen Thomas of Junction City. 

After investigation, Thomas was arrested for 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, Domestic Battery, and Aggravated Assault. He was transported to the Geary County Detention Center and is being held until his first court appearance.

The Junction City Police Department thanks the US Army Criminal Investigation Division, the Geary County Sheriff’s Office, and the Junction City Fire Department for their assistance in this investigation.
