
The Friends of the Fort Riley Museums board have announced that they will host a farewell event to celebrate the retirement of Debbie Clark, Fort Riley Museum Curator, Tuesday, June 30, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Regimental Room at the U.S. Cavalry Museum, 205 Henry Drive, Fort Riley, KS.
Debbie Clark has worked for the Center of Military History at the Fort Riley museums for almost 30 years.
Deborah “Debbie” Clark, a native of Odessa, Texas, has served 42 years in Federal Service. Upon graduation from high school in 1971, Debbie enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps, serving eight years both stateside and overseas. On completion of Army service, she worked as an Army civilian in numerous capacities. Debbie began her career with the Center of Military History’s Museum Division as an administrative assistant assigned to the Fort Riley Cavalry Museum in July 1997.
Throughout her museum career Debbie was continually promoted from administrative assistant to Museum Tech, to Curator of Collections, to Acting Director for the U.S. Cavalry Museum. During her tenure, Debbie assisted and guided numerous Museum Directors—Terry Van Meter, William McKale, and Robert Smith. Debbie was also instrumental in the ten-year process to re-envision and remodel the U.S. Cavalry Museum.
