RILEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and have recovered some evidence.
Just after 3p.m. Friday, officers filed a report for burglary and criminal damage to property in the 300 block of Messenger Rd. at Fairmont Park in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report. A 42-year-old woman and a 55-year-old woman reported a man and possibly a second suspect smashed in the window of a car and stole a purse containing cash and financial cards for an estimated total loss of approximately $720.
Officers found the vehicle the suspect(s) were reported to be driving abandoned in the 900 block of Denison Avenue. Offices also found the stolen property in a dumpster in the 2300 block of Stagg Hill Road.
