During a visit to Junction City on Thursday, Kansas Main Street officials received an update on the concept for a new event center proposed by business owner Todd Godfrey at 10th & Washington.
Initial numbers would include a main floor holding a maximum of 2,600 people which does not however, include second floor private boxes that would also be available for events. There would be 5-6 restaurants, four or more bars, food trucks and trailers plus an elevated concert stage.
Godfrey put the initial concept price tag at $10 million. He said the project will absolutely happen.
Junction City Main Street Interim Director Jerry Lonergren said the project will kick start downtown revitalization. "What the downtown wants to create is a synergy where people want to come downtown, want to see downtown, want to spend money downtown."
