Blue Jays turn up the defense in the second half

Junction City went from a one point half deficit at halftime to a 65-52 victory over the Emporia Spartans Friday night at JCHS. Full court defense, steals, blocked shots were all part of the effort for the Blue Jays who improved to 6-0 on the season. The Spartans fell to 0-7.

Four players scored in double figures for the Blue Jays including Howard Johnson with 19 points, Seth Clark 15, Ismael Fadiga 12 and Sheldon Butler-Lawson 12 points.

Junction City hosts Highland Park on Tuesday.

In the girls basketball game, Emporia ( 5-2 ) rolled by Junction City 71-8. Emporia led 48-5 at halftime, and nine three-point shots in the game. Junction City fell to 1-6.

The Lady Jays will host Highland Park Tuesday night.
