Fiscal Year Economic Impact statement numbers for Fort Riley in 2023 totaled $1.9 billion. The information was provided by Garrison Commander Col. Michael Foote. "That's everything from our payrolls for our service members and our DA civilians to our construction contracts." Funds impact in the Flint Hills and across Kansas.
Foote noted the strong workforce in the Flint Hills, calling it "unmatched."
For the third time in five years Fort Riley received the Army Community Award. Construction on the first phase of the Morris Hill Elementary School project was completed. It was a final elementary school rebuild, although there will be an expansion supported by an $8.6 million grant received by USD 475.
In the area of troop deployments Foote noted that the Combat Aviation Brigade is scattered at locations across Europe. The Second Brigade Combat Team and the 1st Infantry Division Headquarters will deploy for a stint at the National Training Center.
Foote noted that when all Soldiers are on Post there are about 15,000 Soldiers on the installation.
