Nathan Butler, Junction City, believes the Vote Yes for the Value Them Both amendment on the Aug. 2 election ballot will pass. So the 68th District Republican House candidate said he wants to work to improve the foster care program in the state. "The one that we have just seems to be as I talk to people, not going well. It's pretty much broken." A portion of Junction City and Geary County, along with portions of Morris and Riley Counties are also in the 68th District.
Butler also wants to see if there's a way to improve the process for adoption. He called the process arduous.
Butler wants to work on inflation. "We've got farmers and ranchers in the communities that are paying high costs for fertilizer and fuel. Is there something we can do for that, to be able to stop that." As a retired military member he also wants to serve on the military affairs committee.
Butler currently serves on the Junction City Commission but confirmed he would step down from that seat in January 2023 if he is elected to the Kansas House. He is opposed in the Republican primary by John Seibel, Burdick. Michael Seymour II is running for the 68th District seat on the Democratic ticket. He is unopposed in the primary election on Tuesday.. The general election will be held in November.
