Geary County Commissioners were notified Monday about 2024 Change of Value notices. They were sent out to the public this past Friday.
According to Travis Lilly, County Appraiser, the value residential property increased 4.6% while commercial property decreased 1%. The total real property increase was calculated at 3.1%. Other Kansas counties with similar increases were mentioned.
The average residential value was calculated at $183,900. There was about one million dollars in new construction. A lot of houses were built during the past year.
Valuations are not climbing as fast as they used to in Geary County.
