Nora Mae Finson

Nora Mae Finson passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 in Clay Center, Kansas.  Nora was born on December 7, 1928, in Iola, Kansas, to Mark Herbert and Iva Madana (Michael) Proctor.  She married Claude LeRoy Finson on April 1, 1949, in Topeka. He preceded her in death.

Nora graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka and worked at KP&L after graduation. She sold Avon products for several years. Nora moved with her husband and family to Clay Center in 1970.  Nora was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center and served as historian for many years.  She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed cooking for her family, especially during holidays when making cookies and candies.  Nora especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Nora was preceded in death by her eldest son Michael, her youngest son Bradley, and all her siblings.  Surviving Nora are her son Kevin Finson and wife Christine (Curley), daughter Debra Weidman, daughter-in-law Terry (Bricker) Finson; grandchildren Carrie Finson, Megan (Finson) and husband Matthew Buse, Bradlin (Finson) and husband Paul Bones, Isaiah Finson and wife Jessica (Mercer), Nathanael Finson and wife Pamela (Norris), Kayalan (Finson) and husband Sean Braden, Daniel Weidman and wife Angie (Womble), Michelle (Weidman) and husband Aaron Evans, Steven Weidman and wife Jessica (Metroff), Rachelle Kinney and Forest Price; 21 great-grandchildren; beloved sister-in-law Beulah Proctor; many nieces and nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be handled by Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center and will be held at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadowlark Hospice c/o the funeral home
