Topics ranging from weed control and herbicide availability to soybean fertility, current fertilizer challenges, planting dates and soybean insect pests will be covered during a soybean production meeting on March 2nd in Geary County.
Geary County Extension Agent Chuck Otte said the meeting will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the 4-H / Senior Citizen Center. There is a $10 registration fee to cover the cost of the meal. Those who attend pay at the door. You can pre-register by Feb. 25th with the Extension Office at 785-238-4161 or [email protected]
There will be a series of speakers from Kansas State University during the meeting.
In 2010 soybean acres surpassed wheat for the most acres planted for any crop in Geary County. Otte noted that given the cost of fertilizer this year he suspects the county may set records with the number of acres of soybeans that are planted.
