Superintendent’s Three R Awards Honored

 Dr. Reginald Eggleston, Geary County Schools USD 475 Superintendent of Schools, recognized exemplary students with the 3R Award. The award is given to students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of respect, responsibility and building positive relationships. Earning recognition were Oliver Alforque (Washington Elementary), Davy Scott (Lincoln Elementary) and Aurora Perkins (Milford Elementary).

Purple Star Recognition

A Purple Star Commemorative Vase was awarded to Lincoln Elementary, Milford Elementary and Washington Elementary for demonstrating a major commitment to supporting students and their families connected to the United States military.

National Blue Ribbon School Recognition

Lincoln Elementary was recognized for being named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Lincoln is one of only 356 schools nation-wide and one of only four elementary schools in the entire state of Kansas to receive this prestigious honor in 2024.

Mary and Willie Snipes Donate to USD 475

 Mary and Willie Snipes donated a check of $1,000 in honor of their son to Geary County Schools USD 475 to use for unpaid and overdue food service balances, as well as book fees.

USD 475 Teachers Honored

USD 475 recognized Spring Valley Elementary first grade teacher Denise Acosta and Junction City High School audio and video teacher Easton Lager for being named the district’s nominees for the Kansas Horizon Award Program. By being named USD 475’s Kansas Horizon Award winners, Acosta and Lager both received a $1,000 check from Central National Bank of Junction City.

Geary County Schools also recognized Seitz Elementary kindergarten teacher Christa Grider and Fort Riley Middle School Special Education teacher Michelle Irvine for being named the district’s nominees for the Kansas Teacher of the Year Award Program. By being named USD 475’s Kansas Teacher of the Year Award winners, Grider and Irvine both received a $1,000 check from Exchange Bank of Junction City. 

Board Approves Junction City High School JROTC Travel

The USD 475 Board of Education approved the out-of-state travel for the Junction City High School JROTC Raider Team. JCHS will travel to Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 25 for the Abraham Lincoln Drill Meet in Council Bluffs. The Blue Jays will also participate in the Nevada Flying Tigers Drill Meet in Missouri on Saturday, Feb. 8.

Board Approves Early Graduates

The Geary County Schools USD 475 Board of Education approved that Jeremiah Schaeffer, Michael Thomas, Sadid Pagan and Anthony Green be allowed to graduate early once all of their high school credits have been earned.
