Final action is pending future approval of a resolution but Geary County Commissioners have reached a consensus to move forward on an increase in jury fees that will be paid to people who serve on juries. It will go up to $20 per day served. The new rate is expected to become effective Jan. 1, 2026.

In other business during their weekly meeting commissioners learned from Rural Fire Chief Garry Berges that year to date there have been 90 rural fire calls. That compares with 72 at this time one year ago.&nbsp;
