At Tuesday's meeting of the Junction City Commission, a request to allow backyard chickens within city limits was heard with no action taken.

Because there is no existing ordinance allowing poultry in the city, the commission opted not to make a motion for or against, although a majority of commissioners were against the idea.

Watch the entire meeting HERE. The discussion over backyard poultry begins at the 46:30 mark of the video.

In other action, commissioners agreed to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office. The MOU would allow for joint interdiction efforts to reduce illegal narcotics, allowing Junction City Police Department officers to operate and assist in Dickinson County's jurisdiction.
